Audio

A natural voice for every sentence you add

Pimsleur’s recordings are excellent, and they are Pimsleur’s sentences [1]. In PhrasiGo you type the line you need and it is spoken back in a natural neural voice with per-word timing, so you can tap any single word to hear it alone, and see its meaning while you are at it.

  • Tap any word to hear just that word
  • Both ♂ and ♀ forms, each with audio
  • Phonetic guide for non-Latin scripts
PhrasiGo phrasebook with an audio button on every sentence

Speaking

Say it, and know if you got it

Pimsleur’s method is to respond aloud on cue; Voice Coach feedback comes with the paid tiers [1]. PhrasiGo’s Speaking mode checks you word by word on every tier there is, which is one. If it could not hear you, that is a free retry. If it hears a suspiciously fast “perfect”, it does not count. The score means you said it.

Conversation

Use the sentence in a real exchange

Pimsleur’s AI Conversation Coach is in beta for All Access Spanish and French [2]. PhrasiGo’s Talk covers every language in the app, with ten scenarios and three levels. The tutor knows your saved phrases and gives you a natural moment to use them.

Memory

Graduated recall, made adaptive

Pimsleur’s graduated-interval recall was ahead of its time [5]. FSRS-4.5 is the modern version of the same idea: each phrase gets its own curve, the ones you know stretch out, the ones you miss come back sooner, and the Progress tab forecasts your week.

Questions people ask

Is PhrasiGo really free, or is there a catch?
There is no paid tier in the app right now and there are no ads. Instead of a paywall, PhrasiGo has fair-use limits so nobody can run up the AI bill: signed in with Google, you can add 100 new phrases a day, do 200 speaking exercises a day and hold 30 AI conversations a day. Without an account the limits are lower. Everything else, including the whole guided course, is open.
Can I use PhrasiGo hands-free while driving?
No. PhrasiGo’s practice is on-screen: tapping words, building sentences, reading and speaking. If you want a purely audio method for the car, Pimsleur is designed for exactly that.
Are PhrasiGo’s voices real people?
No. PhrasiGo uses natural neural text-to-speech, which is what makes it possible to voice any sentence you type within seconds and to time every word so you can tap it individually. Pimsleur uses recorded voice actors.
Can I import my existing cards or word lists?
Not yet. There is no file import, so you add sentences one at a time. In practice that is fast: you type one sentence and the translation, audio, gendered forms and word meanings are generated for you. You can export everything you have built as a JSON file at any time.
Is PhrasiGo available on iPhone?
PhrasiGo ships on Android through Google Play today. The iPhone version is built from the same code and is in testing; it will appear on this site the day it is live on the App Store.
